How to write a legal resume
As a lawyer, you have a great responsibility and you also need extensive knowledge in your field. Employment is possible in very different areas. The differences in the skills and qualifications required are correspondingly large. For example, your work in a law firm will differ significantly from that of an insurance company or an authority.
Regardless of the exact path, you take in your career, there is one thing you must always keep in mind when looking for a new job. Only if you convince with your application will you have the opportunity to win over your new employer in a personal interview.
In addition to an attractive cover letter, your CV as a lawyer is particularly important. Provide a complete and seamless overview of your training and previous stages in your professional life.
What should your legal resume look like
Also, you should go into detail about your knowledge. Provide information on the areas of law in which you are well versed. This can be, for example, commercial criminal law, tax law, or insolvency law.
Depending on the exact position you are applying for, different skills are likely to be required. However, the more experience you have, the more interesting you are for a potential employer. You should also include details of your foreign language skills on your resume. If you have completed further training, you should of course also list them.
